Job Description

Paragon is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to join our team. The Electrical Engineer provides sound engineering principles in design, development, implementation, testing, and evaluation (by analytical or other means) for equipment applied in nuclear safety-related projects. Responsibilities include developing design drawings, item test plans, calculations, and test reports. The engineer will work with power and control equipment such as motor control centers, switchgear, control panels, starters, relays, transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, and other control and power equipment. This role involves engineering activities throughout project lifecycles and supporting senior engineers with complex projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure equipment technical specifications are met, project scope is executed with engineering rigor, and project risks are mitigated to maintain schedule and quality.
  • Manage ongoing project requirements and specifications for multiple projects and clients.
  • Analyze component functional and design requirements to develop test plans.
  • Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Create and refine design and test documentation, including:
    • Commercial Grade Dedication plans, equipment test plans
    • Seismic, Environmental, EMI/RFI qualification test plans and reports
    • Discrepancy Report resolution
    • Engineering calculations/evaluations
    • Design drawing packages (including SolidWorks CAD)
  • Develop project documentation to communicate design aspects to clients or manufacturing partners.
  • Perform root cause, apparent cause, and common cause analysis and testing as needed.
  • Review documentation prior to client delivery.
  • Collaborate with production to resolve design/testing issues.
  • Work with other engineers to develop analytical processes, share knowledge, and review designs.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with industry experience (electrical, industrial, electronics, manufacturing).
  • Experience in nuclear or related fields is a plus.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks software.
  • Knowledge of power and control systems.
  • Experience with motor control centers, switchgear, control panels, starters, relays, transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, and similar equipment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with creative and innovative approaches.
