Job summary

AeroVironment in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to design and evaluate electronic parts and systems for UAV hardware. You will select components based on specifications, contribute to cross-functional development, and review vendor capabilities as needed.

You will perform circuit design for digital/analog systems, develop prototypes, and write software to integrate sensors and embedded processors. On-site work with a fast-paced team is expected.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of professional experience.
• Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience in RF, embedded control, or FPGA areas.
• Knowledge of power electronics including motors and lithium batteries.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Familiarity with LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB.
• Understanding of general engineering fundamentals, math, physics.
• Familiarity with Small UAV subsystems and related software.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs simulation and detailed design for digital and analog circuits.
• Drives system integration, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
• Documents designs with engineering drawings and descriptions.
• Troubleshoots systems from hardware and software perspectives.
• Designs, builds, and tests prototypes with avionics and RF links.
• Writes software to support sensors and embedded processors.
• Designs circuit boards including layout and bring-up.
• Provides engineering support on R&D projects.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and communicates issues clearly.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
