Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. is seeking an Engineer I to apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or segments of larger work, supporting analyses, drawings, coordination, and client communication under senior engineers.

You will begin by taking responsibility for portions of designs under supervision, develop concepts with input from the EOR, review work, coordinate with architects and disciplines, perform load calculations, and assist with budgets and project milestones.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree with four years of design experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; familiarity with Trace700 and SKM.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of drafting/design procedures and applicable codes/regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard design engineering techniques on small projects or segments.
  • Develop design concepts and perform studies using industry software.
  • Oversee drawings and documentation for accuracy and standards.
  • Coordinate with architects and disciplines to communicate requirements.
  • Attend meetings with owners/clients; document decisions and actions.
  • Coordinate with authorities and utilities to meet codes and regulations.
  • Assist with discipline manhour budgets and project progress reporting.
  • Perform load calculations and equipment selection relevant to design.
