Job summary

Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR) seeks an Engineer I to contribute to small projects and to support design analyses, drawings, coordination, and client communications under the guidance of senior engineers. This role develops toward responsible charge with mentorship and collaboration.

The ideal candidate holds an ABET-accredited engineering degree and is a Registered Professional Engineer. Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD, plus familiarity with codes, standards, and industry software, will help

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college with four years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
• Registered Professional Engineer

Responsibilities

• Begin assuming responsible charge for portions of project designs under supervision
• Develop design approaches and concepts with input from the EOR; perform engineering studies
• Oversee preparation of drawings and documentation; ensure accuracy and adherence to standards
• Coordinate with architects and other disciplines; communicate design requirements clearly
• Attend meetings with owners/clients/architects; document decisions and action items
• Coordinate with authorities and utilities to meet codes and regulations
• Support budgeting, scheduling, and progress reporting to the project manager
• Perform studies, load calculations, and equipment selection; review work for accuracy before QA/QC
• Respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction; review submittals
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and observe installations
• Maintain records of communications; contribute to lessons learned
• Support training and mentoring of designers/EITs; pursue ongoing learning

Education

ABET-accredited engineering degree with four years of applicable experience
