Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) in Madison seeks an Electrical Engineer I to design energy-efficient building systems and mentor junior staff. You will perform load calculations, sizing, equipment selection, and field surveys to support projects in healthcare, science, and technology.

You will grow through mentorship, participate in meetings with clients and other consultants, and contribute to shop drawings and specifications while advancing AEI’s engineering excellence.

Qualifications

  • BSEE/BSAE from ABET-accredited school.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities preferred.
  • EIT certification (FE exam) a plus.
  • MEP consulting internship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform load calculations and determine system sizing and layouts.
  • Calculate equipment sizes and select equipment.
  • Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
  • Lead electrical project teams as you gain experience.
  • Write specifications and participate in client meetings.
  • Support construction-phase work.

As an Electrical Engineer I in our Madison office, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

In this role, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading electrical project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.

Expertise of our most successful Electrical Engineer I:
  • BSEE/BSAE from ABET accredited school.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Non-academic internship.
  • Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
  • EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
  • Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.
