Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Substation Engineer to perform design engineering activities supporting relay protection and control for substations of varying size and voltage class.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • EIT certification strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standard.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design activities requiring a basic understanding of drawings, calculations, specifications, and industry standards and practices covering the assigned work.
  • Shall have a basic knowledge of the theory, practices, and procedures pertaining to engineering matters in one or more of the following areas: Electrical Engineering.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
  • Develop professional work knowledge and abilities in one or more of the following areas: Substation Design, Electrical Control Systems, Protective Relaying.
  • Develop knowledge of the Company-s design, construction, QA/QC, and safety standards and the Company document control system.
  • Responsible for complete and accurate record keeping and quality of all work performed.
  • May be required to travel to support work.
  • Other duties as required.

Overview

The Substation Engineer performs design engineering activities requiring a basic understanding of drawings, calculations, specifications, and industry standards and practices covering the assigned work. This role supports relay protection and control engineering, including detailed design for substation projects of varying size, complexity, and voltage class.

Compensation

In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.


Other Compensation

Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
