Job summary

Optima Engineering, an employee-owned MEP engineering consulting firm, seeks an Electrical Engineer to join our Greenville team. You will design electrical systems for higher education, municipal, K-12, and commercial facilities, collaborating with project teams from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate holds SC PE registration, a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years of MEP experience, and proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• PE registration in South Carolina is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP building systems design.
• Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop electrical system designs from concept through construction.
• Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems that meet project requirements and codes.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations in Revit or AutoCAD.
• Perform load calculations, circuiting, panel schedules, and equipment sizing.
• Conduct field investigations, site observations, and existing system assessments.
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support.
• Participate in interdisciplinary coordination and quality control reviews to ensure accurate, high-quality deliverables.
• Assist in mentoring junior staff and sharing technical expertise across the team.
