Job summary

Optima Engineering PA is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 10+ years of experience in MEP building systems. The candidate must hold a North Carolina PE license and be proficient in Revit and AutoCAD on diverse higher-ed, municipal, K-12, and commercial projects.

Qualifications

• PE license in NC is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in MEP building systems design across education/municipal/K-12/commercial.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams from concept to construction.
• Design lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems meeting codes.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations in Revit or AutoCAD.
• Perform load calculations, circuiting, panel schedules, and equipment sizing.
• Conduct field investigations, site observations, and system assessments.
• Review submittals, RFIs, and provide construction administration support.
• Participate in coordination and quality control reviews to deliver high-quality output.
• Mentor junior staff and share technical expertise.
