Job summary

Mott MacDonald in North America is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with HV substation expertise. You will develop one-line and three-line diagrams, perform AC/DC load calculations, and size batteries and cables, ensuring compliance with project standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multi-discipline teams, and contribute to continuous improvement within a hybrid in-office culture that requires three days on site each week.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineer with a BSEE or higher.
• 2+ years experience in protection and control for HV substation design.
• Knowledge of protective relay schemes and principles of automation and control for Schweitzer, Siemens, Areva, or ABB protective relay products; can work on one line and three lines, schematics for protective relays including microprocessor relays, control schematics, alarms, auxiliary power and AC/DC Load calculations, wiring diagrams.
• Electrical utility switching stations/substations experience and basic knowledge of electrical stations equipment (transformers, breakers, switchgear, GIS, regulators, capacitor banks).
• A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Prepare one line diagrams, three line diagrams, elementary diagrams and relay panel front view layout.
• Perform AC/DC Load Calculations, Battery sizing and cable sizing.
• Mentor and guide developing engineers within the department; provide design activities per codes and standards.
• QA/QC on protection and control design packages and verify compliance with scope documents.
