The Lansing Board of Water & Light has openings for an Engineer III - V with our Electric Systems Integrity Department located in Lansing, MI.
Responsible for engineering activities related to planning, designing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and ensuring regulatory compliance of the electric transmission and distribution systems. Projects involve investigations, studies, estimating, economic evaluations, budgeting, scheduling, system protection, designing, drawing review, construction support, training, and project management.
This position focuses primarily on transmission planning, modeling of BWL’s 138kV system, and NERC compliance tasks, including load flow studies and contingency analysis to identify system improvements and evaluate interconnection applications. The role includes becoming a co-SME on NERC standards and maintaining compliance for audits.
Engineer III: $91,746 - $111,930; 4+ years experience
Engineer IV: $101,876 - $125,358; 7+ years experience, advanced evaluation and project design skills, ability to lead projects and evaluate complex data
Engineer V: $113,246 - $140,425; 10+ years experience, extensive knowledge, project management, and strategic planning capabilities
Must remain stationary, occasionally move within the office and industrial environments, operate office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Work may involve outdoor environments and industrial settings. Must pass background, substance screening, and physical exam if applicable.
