Job summary

Mesodyne is seeking an experienced embedded hardware engineer to design and bring up digital/analog systems in our Somerville, MA offices. You’ll work with STM32 MCUs, I2C/SPI/CAN/USB, sensors, and actuators to deliver robust prototypes and first-article hardware.

You’ll own PCB design in Altium, multi-board assemblies, BOM management, and board bring-up. You’ll closely collaborate with mechanical engineering throughout the design cycle to ship reliable products.

Qualifications

• Solder microcontrollers directly to a circuit board (not just dev-board).
• Schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium including multi-board assemblies and flex boards.
• Hands-on experience taking a board from design through fabrication, assembly and bring-up.
• Strong hands-on debugging: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, SMD rework.
• Attention to detail balanced with ability to decide with incomplete information.
• Balance doing things properly with quick demos under time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded systems using STM32 MCUs and interfaces (I2C, SPI, CAN, USB).
• Interface with sensors and actuators; apply analog principles (impedance, feedback).
• Design power electronics including motor drivers and buck/boost converters.
• Own PCB design in Altium; manage BOM and multi-board assemblies.
• Board bring-up and debugging with strong hands-on debugging skills.
• Collaborate with the mechanical engineering team throughout the design process.
