Job summary

The Mechanicsburg, PA office of Modjeski and Masters is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in Electrical Power and Control Design.

Responsibilities include leading electrical design projects, developing wiring diagrams, field inspections, and supporting movable bridge projects across offices. The role requires mentoring, strong communication, and CAD proficiency; a hybrid work environment is offered.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited college.
  • Minimum of 4 years electrical power and control design experience.
  • PE license preferred but not required; ability to obtain within 4 years.
  • Mentor junior engineers and work with strong work ethic.
  • Experience in CAD tools and electrical calculations is a plus.

  • Design electrical control systems for manual, automatic, or remotely controlled operations.

The Mechanicsburg, PA office of Modjeski and Masters is seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in Electrical Power and Control Design.

Position is also available in any of our other offices.

What We’re Looking For
  • A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Engineering with a concentration in Electrical from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 4 years electrical power and control design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of residency is preferred but not required; ability to obtain PE within 4 years of hire.
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Coursework in Electrical Power, Industrial Controls, and Electric Motors is a plus.
  • Familiarity with sizing conductors, circuit breakers, transformers, and conduits for single and three phase circuits and perform voltage drop and fault current calculations.
  • Preferred experience working in a consultant engineering company.
  • Preferred working knowledge of CAD programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Preferred experience with SKM Power Tools for electrical calculations and arc flash hazard analysis a plus.
  • Submit to and pass a security background check immediately after hiring for access to certain client facilities.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders, stairways, and perform work on walkways and platforms at high elevations on bridge superstructures during field assignments.
  • Good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills.

  • Design electrical control systems for manual, automatic, or remotely controlled movable bridge operations.
  • Design power distribution systems for roadway lighting, transportation facility, and movable bridge projects.
  • Develop details and wiring diagrams for various electrical components and systems.
  • Perform field inspections and evaluations of movable bridge, roadway lighting, and transportation facility electrical systems and write reports based on findings.
  • Assist with movable bridge electrical and control system start-up procedures.

Movable Bridge Unit

The Movable Bridge Unit focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures, structural, mechanical, and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short‑term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit.
