Job summary

Modjeski & Masters, a world‑class bridge engineering firm, is seeking an entry‑level Civil/Structural Engineer (BS required) for design and analysis of movable bridges in the Mechanicsburg, PA area. You will use standard engineering software, review design calculations, and support project teams under guidance from senior engineers.

The role emphasizes collaboration, written and oral communication, site assessments, CAD development, and preparation of project documents.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • MS in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Transcripts may be requested.
  • EI certification either valid or in process.
  • Coursework in Bridge Design, Structural Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Finite Element Modeling.
  • Basic knowledge of computer aided drafting and design.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to use standard engineering analysis software.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members.
  • Effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with team members.
  • Review and check standard structural design calculations.
  • Perform limited structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using general analysis software, client‑specific software and in‑house programs under direct guidance from project managers and senior‑level engineers.
  • Perform limited on‑site structural assessments and inspections.
  • Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans related to design work.
  • Prepare project‑related documents and internal correspondence.
  • Perform and check quantity take‑offs from contract plans.
  • Review and check basic structural drawings and shop drawings.
  • Provide information for design reports.
  • Perform additional duties including field and construction services assignments.

What We’re Looking For
