Job summary

Lear Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design, panel layout, BOM creation, and collaboration with program managers and engineering teams to deliver robust solutions. Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years in a design role at an automation/machine shop.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and PLC programming.
  • Able to travel up to 20% to customer sites.
  • Strong communication and collaboration in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, the manufacturing team, and customers to develop systems and complete projects.
  • Provide electrical design along with drawing creation while under minimal technical supervision.
  • Prepare drawing packages for manufacture and assembly, ensuring they are complete and accurate.
  • Collaborate with shop members prior to and during the build.
  • Deliberates with Controls engineers to design for integration and select pneumatic components.
  • Develop Electrical designs to solve production plant issues.
  • Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Supports legacy Electrical designs.

Job Description

As a member of the Electrical Engineer Team, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible forall areas of Electrical design engineering-including panel layout, component selection and BOM creation. The Electrical Engineer works with the Program Manager and Engineering Departments to complete designs.

Responsibilities

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, the manufacturing team, and customers to develop systems and complete projects.
  • Provides electrical design along with drawing creation while under minimal technical supervision.
  • Prepares drawing packages for manufacture and assembly, ensuring they are complete and accurate, meeting all customer drawing requirements as well as proper standards.
  • Collaborates with shop members prior to and during the build.
  • Deliberates with Controls engineers to design for integration and select pneumatic components.
  • Develop Electrical designs to solve production plant issues.
  • Knowledgeable in standards, processes, and best practices and able to use them to complete duties.
  • Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Supports legacy Electrical designs.
  • Shares design methodologies, productivity tools, standards, processes, and legacy information for increased knowledge and experience within the company.
  • Develop designs from direction supplied by Novi program management and external Lear engineers.
Education Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience Requirements
  • Three years' experience in a design role at an automation/machine build shop.
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical circuits and PLC programing.
  • Motivated to initiate and implement tasks, strategies, and techniques in a goal-oriented manner to increase productivity and profitability.
  • Technically creative with an understanding of Electrical functions to provide solutions in a robust and economical manner.
  • Capable of evaluating quotations, specifications, and documentation to discern functional requirements, identify missing information, and define tasks for Electrical designs.
  • Organized and flexible in work functions allowing for resolute, multitasking, and task interrupted duties.
  • Analytical and decisive to define, evaluate and solve problems in an organized process.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal with competency in computer and Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to collaborate in team environments while maintaining individual duties effectively.
  • Communication across cross functional groups.
  • Communication with suppliers to aid in design decisions.
  • Committed to integrity, ethical, and economical practices.
  • Ability to travel 20% to customer sites to capture design info or assist installation.

Bonus If You Have:

  • Knowledge inIndustry 4.0 Principles.
  • Strong experience with automation.
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD, CAM and MATLAB/LabView, MiniTab, or similar programs.
