Job summary

Go McPherson Career Center is looking for an accomplished Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering staff. Job Description
Electrical Design Engineer

As a member of the engineering staff, the Electrical Design Engineer must be accomplished, self‑motivated, with the ability to design, maintain and support our industry‑leading products and systems. The Electrical Design Engineer will work across a variety of functional groups that are directly involved in engineering, product development, and some R&D. The Electrical Design Engineer will also act as the resident subject matter expert in making critical design decisions, ongoing standards, and improvements over time.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by researching specifications and designing complete systems; applying knowledge of electricity and materials.
  • Develops electrical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
  • Develops and maintains electrical design standards and a product database using relevant and effective computer programs for the purpose; entering data.
  • Guides electrical designers in critical design decisions and standards.
  • Performs various R&D when determining the viability of new electrical design solutions as needed.
  • Coordinates with mechanical designers as needed to ensure integrated designs.
  • Acts independently to make design decisions within given parameters and requirements.
  • Participates in relationships with partner vendors to coordinate future design directions.
  • Completes projects by training and guiding technicians on critical electrical design elements.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Familiar with PLC Programming is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant electrical design field

  • Proven track record of developing solutions that accomplish all machine requirements, customer requirements, and regulation requirements.
