Norsk Hydro in North America is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead capital projects from conception to startup, overseeing electrical power and controls across aluminum extrusion facilities. You will collaborate with plant teams, contractors, and maintenance to ensure reliability and efficiency of equipment.

The role requires a 5+ year track record in manufacturing electrical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with industrial power distribution.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
• At least 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing as an electrical engineer (required).
• Experience managing million-dollar capital projects (preferred).
• Experience reviewing electrical designs for new industrial equipment (preferred).
• Experience with industrial power distribution systems (preferred).

Responsabilidades

• Manage contractors to ensure safe, productive execution.
• Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources and suppliers.

• Ensure safe operation of equipment and processes.
• Recommend changes to improve manufacturing value and system performance.
• Be present on the shop floor to monitor progress and troubleshoot.

What you will be doing?

Job Summary:

This Electrical Engineer will be responsible forleading the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of capital projects ranging from $1M to $40M in aluminum extrusion, fabrication, and billet casting facilities. This role is responsible for electrical power and controls engineering, including equipment upgrades, design, material and service specification, and managing installations, startups, and troubleshooting. The Electrical Engineer will drive projects from scope definition through execution, collaborating with plant teams, contractors, and maintenance personnel to ensure equipment functionality, reliability, and efficiency. The role also includes recommending improvements to enhance equipment and production system performance. This position reports to Engineering Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget development and execution of capital projects.
• Provideelectrical engineering and designfrom concept through hand-off using the established PESHA process.
• Manage contractors to ensure safe and productive execution of work.
• Collaborate with internal/external engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction contractors.
• Perform engineering tasks including problem-solving, design calculations, equipment selection, proposal reviews, and drawing management.
• Ensure proper operation and safety of equipment and processes.
• Recommend and implement changes to improve manufacturing value and system performance.
• Ensure processes are capable, controlled, and meet delivery and cost targets.
• Be present on the shop floor as needed, including accessing equipment via ladders or high reaches to evaluate progress and troubleshoot issues.

What will make you successful?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. (required)
• At least 5 years of professionalexperience in a manufacturing environment as an electrical engineer.(required)
• Experience managing million dollar capital projects. (preferred)
• Experience reviewing and evaluating electrical designs for new indsutrial equipment. (preferred)
• Experience with industrial power distribution systems. (preferred)
