You will provide direct engineering oversight to trades, interpret complex drawings, and drive rapid, technically sound resolutions to emergent shipyard issues throughout final assembly, test, and sea trials.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in mechanical, aerospace, structural, civil, or marine engineering with 5+ years in relevant disciplines and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural, Civil or Marine Engineering.
• 5+ years of discipline-specific (structural, mechanical, piping or ventilation) post graduate engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance or higher is required.

Aufgaben

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to trade personnel.
• Evaluate emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction and rapidly develop technically acceptable resolutions.
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements.
• Providing direction and evaluation to Groton trades via disposition of CNs and TIR UNSATs.
• Support final assembly, test, certification, and delivery activities for COLUMBIA Class.
• Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material in the Groton shipyard.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering evaluations.
• Facilitate implementation of the design, lessons learned, and process improvements.
• Facilitate discipline specific knowledge transfer to the construction support engineering team.
• Coordinate engagement of design and engineering SMEs in the construction sequence.
