Senior Electrical Engineer

Our Vancouver area MEP engineering client is actively seeking to add a Senior Electrical Engineer to the organization in a leadership role in the design, coordination, and management of electrical engineering projects. The collaborative environment brings together experts in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems to deliver efficient and high-performance designs that meet client goals and regulatory standards.

This position involves client-facing responsibilities, project management, and mentorship of junior staff. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong technical expertise in building power, lighting, and low-voltage systems within an MEP consulting environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems for various building types.
  • Develop construction documents, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams to ensure cohesive project integration.
  • Perform site assessments, field surveys, and existing condition evaluations.
  • Manage multiple projects from concept through construction administration, ensuring compliance with budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, and perform periodic site inspections to ensure design intent is met.
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, and code officials to clarify design and resolve technical issues.
  • Mentor and review the work of junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IES, and local building codes).
  • Contribute to proposals, project scoping, and fee development for new opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Six (6) or more years of progressive experience in electrical design within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing building electrical systems across multiple sectors (commercial, institutional, or industrial).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical design software a plus.
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency, sustainable design, and code compliance.
