Role

Ready to power the future of clean energy? Join SLR as an Intermediate Electrical Engineer and lead cutting-edge solar and energy storage projects that shape sustainable communities across North America and the Caribbean. If you thrive on technical challenges, collaboration, and making a real impact, this is your opportunity to drive innovation where it matters most.

SLR is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to lead engineering activities such as design, analysis, simulation, commissioning, and technical advisory for community distributed generation (CDG), utility-scale solar, and energy storage projects. The projects may be located throughout North America and the Caribbean. The primary focus for this role will be on projects in NYISO, PJM and MISO RTO territories. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, enjoys technical challenges, and thrives in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review all aspects of solar PV and battery energy storage system design, from small rooftop to large utility-scale ground mount projects, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to SLR and industry standards
  • Mentor Engineering team members, review team deliverables for technical quality and consistency; set and uphold drawing architecture standards and best practices across the team
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders across all phases of design, interconnection, and construction
  • Oversee day-to-day project execution; assign tasks, manage workflows, track milestones, and prepare status reports for senior management
  • Interface with clients, vendors, utilities, and local authorities to align project requirements and ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget
  • Conduct detailed energy production simulations and modeling for solar PV and storage systems using software tools such as MS Excel, PVSyst, and Helioscope
  • Perform power system studies including underground ampacity, load flow, protective coordination, short-circuit, grounding, and arc flash analysis using ETAP
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including feasibility studies, scopes of work, commissioning reports, technical specifications, and RFP responses
  • Assist Project Leads in prioritizing engineering tasks, managing team resources, and fulfilling administrative duties as needed
  • Ensure project designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, CEC, IEEE, building and fire code)
  • Conduct on-site field visits to support design verification, construction, and commissioning activities
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements in design practices, project execution processes, and product performance
  • Support business development efforts by providing technical input on proposals, estimating engineering scope, and advising on system configuration
  • Collaborate with external engineering consultants and partners to ensure quality assurance and jurisdictional compliance
