Job summary

Sedgman is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Phoenix, AZ to lead electrical design for mining projects, including LV/MV power systems and related infrastructure. This role may act as project lead, overseeing junior team members and coordinating with clients and vendors globally.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 5–7 years’ experience, with PV licensure eligibility in Arizona. Strong communication, time management, and safety-focused design are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer with MV/LV distribution.
  • Must be eligible to register with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration (P.E.).
  • Experience in engineering design/consultancy; mining and metals asset is a plus.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical engineering design for mineral processing projects and related infrastructure.
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, estimates and scope of work.
  • Develop proposals and conceptual designs for Pre-feasibility to Detail engineering phases.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors and stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.

Sedgman is hiring ! We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for ourPhoenix, AZ.office.

This individual will be responsible for the electrical engineering and design LV and MV power systems on our mining projects. The engineer may act as a project lead engineer, which may require overseeing other junior members of the team.

What does this role involve? Key responsibilities:

Perform electrical engineering design for mineral processing projects and associated infrastructure.(may include: industrial processing, precious metals/iron ore plants, as well as associated services).

Prepare electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, estimates, and scope of work, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

Develop proposals, conceptual designs for Pre-feasibility, Feasibility and Detail engineering phases of projects.

Work across a continuous succession of small and large, domestic and international projects as they progress through the project lifecycle - from early concept development, feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, commissioning to operations

Liaise with internal and external clients, other discipline professionals, vendors, and stakeholders within the industry to ensure the timely, accurate and cost-effective delivery of projects.

Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering

Will have 5 – 7 years of relevant experience as an electrical engineer, with MV and LV power distribution systems

  • Must be eligible to register with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration to obtain the Professional Engineer licensing (P.E.).

Experience in an engineering design/consultancy environment is preferred; previous experience in industrial processing or electric utility, and/or mining and metals environment is considered an asset

Proficiency with instrumentation and control systems in industrial applications.

Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills highly desired

Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail

Must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship
