We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer 3 to support Legacy Electronics Systems Engineering and Sustainment activities. The Engineer will be responsible for component and system-level sustainment, obsolescence mitigation, engineering change execution, design control, and validation support for legacy electronic products.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with electronic hardware platforms, NPI projects, component lifecycle management, and validation activities. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential for working with engineering, suppliers, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute assigned legacy electronics sustainment and obsolescence mitigation projects in accordance with approved plans and schedules.
- Own technical deliverables for assigned electronic components and design families, including engineering analysis, documentation, and technical reviews.
- Identify and assess risks related to component end-of-life, supplier discontinuations, long lead-time components, and supply continuity.
- Support component obsolescence mitigation activities, including last-time buys, alternate component identification, supplier changes, and redesign efforts.
- Maintain component sustainment plans, lifecycle status, and engineering records using company tools and systems.
- Execute engineering tasks in accordance with established design control and engineering change processes.
- Support design control transfers, supplier changes, and engineering ownership transitions.
- Prepare technical documentation and engineering evidence to support design decisions, deviations, and change approvals.
- Ensure engineering outputs meet established design control, documentation, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Support component and system validation activities, including EMC, vibration, environmental, and functional testing.
- Coordinate with internal and external laboratories to execute test plans, collect test data, and document results.
- Analyze validation and test data and provide technical recommendations for sustainment, replacement, or redesign decisions.
- Participate in NPI reviews, design reviews, project meetings, and sustainment activities.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve technical issues and address component phase-out and discontinuation notifications.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical and product lifecycle issues.
- Support supplier assessments, technical reviews, and engineering change activities.
- Support regulatory and compliance activities, including RoHS, CE, and other applicable standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and corrective action activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, data quality, and overall project execution.
- Communicate project status, risks, issues, and technical findings effectively to project leads and stakeholders.
- Apply Agile methodologies and engineering best practices to manage tasks, priorities, and project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant engineering experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience working with electronic hardware platforms, preferably in legacy electronics or NPI environments.
- Experience with component obsolescence, sustainment, lifecycle management, or supply continuity.
- Experience supporting NPI projects and engineering change activities.
- Knowledge of electronic systems and hardware engineering principles.
- Familiarity with component and system-level validation testing.
- Experience coordinating with internal or external testing laboratories.
- Strong technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile engineering environment.

- Experience with electronic control modules, telematics systems, or display hardware.
- Experience supporting legacy product engineering and sustainment programs.
