Job summary

Cintal, Inc. in Mossville, IL is seeking an experienced engineer to lead legacy sustainment and obsolescence mitigation for electronic hardware. You will drive validation activities, update BOMs, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure long-term product support.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience with a BS degree; 3 years with a Masters degree
  • Degree requirement: Bachelors or Masters
  • Experience in legacy or NPI electronic hardware
  • Exposure to obsolescence management and sustainment activities

Responsibilities

  • Execute legacy sustainment tasks aligned with approved plans.
  • Own technical deliverables for design families including analysis and documentation.
  • Coordinate validation/testing, update BOMs, and prepare evidence for design reviews.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve component availability issues.
  • Maintain and update sustainment plans and lifecycle status.
  • Support design control transfers and supplier changes.
  • Prepare engineering evidence to support design decisions and change approvals.
  • Coordinate with labs to execute test plans and collect results.

JOB DESCRIPTION/TYPICAL TASK BREAKDOWN:
  • Support sustainment and obsolescence mitigation projects for legacy components, including risk assessment, alternate part evaluation, and documentation updates
  • Support engineering changes by updating BOMs, coordinating validation/testing, and preparing technical evidence for design reviews
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross functional teams to resolve component availability issues and ensure long term product support
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute assigned legacy sustainment and obsolescence mitigation tasks/projects in alignment with approved plans
  • Own technical deliverables for assigned components or design families, including analysis, documentation, and reviews
  • Support project schedules by completing tasks on time and escalating risks or blockers early
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
  • Identify and assess risks related to component end of life, supplier discontinuations, and long lead time parts
  • Support mitigation activities such as component Last time buys, alternate part identification, and redesign efforts
  • Maintain and update component sustainment plans and lifecycle status using proprietary tools.
  • Execute tasks under established design control processes, including documentation updates and technical reviews
  • Support design control transfers, supplier changes, and engineering ownership transitions
  • Prepare engineering evidence to support design decisions, design deviations, or change approvals
  • Ensure engineering outputs meet design control and documentation standards
  • Support component and system validation activities, including EMC, vibration, environmental, and functional testing
  • Coordinate with internal and external labs to execute test plans and collect results
  • Analyze test data and summarize findings to support sustainment or replacement decisions
  • Utilize standard engineering tools and validation equipment as required
  • Participate in NPI review meetings and provide validation coverage and test results to stake holders
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and phase out notifications
  • Support supplier assessments and technical reviews as needed
  • Collaborate with system teams, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing partners
  • Participate in project reviews, design reviews, and sustainment meetings
  • Support regulatory and compliance activities (e.g., RoHS, CE, and other applicable standards)
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and corrective action efforts
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, processes, and engineering execution
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Years of experience: 5 years BS Degree; 3 years if candidate has Masters Degree
  • Degree requirement: Bachelors or Masters
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Experience working in legacy or NPI electronic hardware platforms
  • Knowledge of electronic control modules, telematics solutions and display hardware
  • Experience working in and utilizing proprietary tools
  • Exposure to obsolescence management, component sustainment, or supply continuity activities
  • Familiarity with validation testing and lab coordination
  • Experience working with global or cross functional engineering teams
