TECHNE in Michigan seeks an Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics (Senior to Principal Considered) to own the next-generation PPU through validation, production and orbit. You will lead analogue/power-electronics design, set technical direction and resolve challenges for flight hardware.
Expect responsibility for radiation, reliability testing and space qualification, driving the product from prototype to repeatable production, within a focused propulsion team.
ROLE: Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics (Senior to Principal Considered)
LOCATION: Houghton, Michigan
TYPE: Full-time, permanent
WORK: On-site
PACKAGE: Competitive salary and benefits
If you have designed analogue power electronics for space and taken flight hardware beyond the prototype stage, this is an opportunity to own what happens next.
You will lead a next-generation power processing unit through validation, radiation and reliability testing, qualification and into production. Your work will then reach orbit and power the electric propulsion systems responsible for manoeuvring operational satellites.
The company builds flight-proven Hall-effect propulsion systems. It has delivered 33 units to a US national-security satellite programme and now produces around 12 systems each month, with capacity continuing to grow.
This is a focused propulsion company backed by an established spacecraft manufacturer. You gain the ownership and speed of a smaller engineering team, supported by the resources and stability of a larger aerospace organisation.
The opportunity
The PPU prototype is complete. The next challenge is turning it into qualified, reliable and repeatable flight hardware.
You will become the technical authority for the analogue and power electronics behind the system.
You will set the technical direction, lead qualification and resolve the difficult electrical and physical challenges involved in moving a complex design into production.
This is not a role where you complete one section of the electronics and hand it over. You will own the product through to flight.
What you will own
Why this is worth leaving a good role for
Your background
This role suits an experienced electrical engineer who wants technical authority, visible impact and the satisfaction of taking complex electronics through qualification, into production and ultimately to orbit.
