Job summary

Global Connect Technologies in Wisconsin is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and develop medium-voltage power distribution systems, covering 1 kV to 38 kV equipment and protection schemes. You will perform system studies, select components, and guide product validation to meet industry standards.

You will lead CAD work, validate designs, and collaborate across manufacturing and design teams to optimize reliability, safety, and cost.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with power generation, conversion, or distribution equipment.
  • Experience with medium-voltage power systems (1 kV to 38 kV).
  • Knowledge of power electronics, protection schemes, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop medium-voltage power circuits and distribution systems.
  • Support new product development from concept to production release.
  • Perform load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination studies.
  • Select and size transformers, switchgear, busbars, cables, and other components.
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
  • Plan and execute electrical product testing and validation.
  • Ensure EMC/EMI compliance and adherence to UL/IEC/NEC/IEEE/CSA/ANSI/NFPA standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and product teams to improve manufacturability and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.

Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of power generation, power conversion, and power distribution systems. This role will focus on medium-voltage electrical design, system studies, component selection, product validation, and compliance with applicable industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop medium-voltage power circuits, electrical distribution systems, and protection schemes.
  • Support new product development from concept through design, validation, and production release.
  • Perform electrical system studies including load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and insulation coordination.
  • Design medium-voltage systems ranging from 1 kV to 38 kV, including switchgear, transformers, busbars, cabling, and related components.
  • Select and size electrical components including transformers, breakers, contactors, busbars, and cables.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, material specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Develop and execute electrical product testing and validation plans, including dielectric/hipot, environmental, component, system, and fault-injection testing.
  • Support EMC/EMI design, mitigation, and compliance testing.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet applicable UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE, CSA, ANSI, and NFPA requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design, and product teams to improve electrical designs for manufacturability, reliability, cost, and safety.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Support product development activities while managing technical decisions, project priorities, and engineering requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with electrical design for power generation, power conversion, or power distribution equipment.
  • Experience with medium-voltage power systems, including switchgear, transformers, paralleling equipment, or power conversion systems.
  • Strong knowledge of power circuit design, component selection, sizing, thermal management, grounding, and bonding.
  • Knowledge of power electronics including rectifiers, inverters, and DC/DC converters.
  • Experience with electrical system testing, validation, and EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Experience with electrical CAD and analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.
