Fanning Howey is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our interdisciplinary team and help shape high-performance learning environments and institutional spaces. Fanning Howey is growing and would like to fill this position located in our Ferndale, Michigan office.

As a technical leader, you'll play a key role in planning, designing, and delivering cutting-edge power, lighting, fire alarm, and photovoltaic systems. From concept to construction, you'll collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to bring integrated, high-impact design to life.

What You'll Do:

• Design complex electrical systems including power, lighting, PV, and fire alarms.
• Coordinate with a wide range of disciplines to ensure code compliance and seamless integration.
• Participate in BIM and design review meetings.
• Conduct site visits and support construction with technical insights.
• Use tools like Revit and Bluebeam to create high-quality documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• 6+ years of experience in institutional building design.
• Deep knowledge of power distribution, lighting design, and code compliance.
• Proficiency in Revit, Visual, Bluebeam—and a collaborative spirit.
• LEED accreditation or sustainability-focused certifications.
• Experience in A/E/C consulting environments.
• A passion for lifecycle thinking and high-performance buildings.

Experience Level: Mid to Senior
