Job Description: Electrical Engineer, PE
Seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with electrical system design experience in an industrial facility. Design experience in steel facilities is considered a significant plus.
The successful candidate shall have the following specific responsibilities:
- Must be registered as a professional engineer in the State of Alabama.
- Knowledge of electrical design practices including drawings, specifications, codes, building materials, and construction techniques.
- Prepares CAD electrical design drawings such as: single line diagrams; power, lighting, grounding, and other systems plans; electrical area plans; electrical equipment arrangement plans; cable tray layout plans and sections; conduit and cable schedules; motor control schematics.
- Applies standard drafting/design principles to complete assignments. Ensures compliance with company and client policies and applicable standards and codes such as ANSI, NEMA, NEC, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, etc.
- Makes required changes, additions, and revisions as directed by the immediate supervisor.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.
- Prepares typical electrical databases/spreadsheets such as motor and electrical load lists, panel schedules, bills of materials.
- Assists the Department Manager in maintaining the project design schedule and budget.
- Confers and coordinates with other Electrical Engineers regarding information required for design completion.
- Interfaces with project management and project engineers during design, execution, and startup phases.
- Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure compliance with design requirements, standards, procedures, industry codes, and client criteria.
- May lead, guide, and review the work of CAD designers and drafters on a project.
Licenses or Certifications:
- P.E. license; must be registered as a professional engineer in Alabama.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
- 3-10 years of relevant electrical design engineering experience in an industrial environment.
- Experience with electrical power system design for industrial facilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Knowledge of raceways/conduit, lighting, cable trays, and cable sizing.
- Understanding of electrical design practices, drawings, specifications, codes, materials, and construction techniques.
Location:
Possible work locations include an office in Pittsburgh, onsite in Alabama, or remote within the US (preferably EST zone).
