What are the responsibilities?
  • Provide technical support during commissioning, startup, and system turnover activities.
  • Lead electrical testing, verification, troubleshooting, and performance validation for power system equipment.
  • Review and confirm power system studies, ensuring alignment with installed field conditions before energization.
  • Conduct and oversee testing procedures, including relay testing, insulation testing, and functional checks.
  • Support pre-commissioning efforts such as loop verification, calibration, and protection system reviews.
  • Coordinate startup readiness processes, factory and site acceptance testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Partner with project, construction, operations, controls, and commissioning teams to achieve successful system startup.
  • Work in the field to resolve technical issues and support commissioning activities.
  • Maintain compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety requirements.
  • Develop commissioning records, test documentation, turnover packages, and punch-list tracking.
  • Assist with integration and testing of power generation and energy storage systems.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineering team members.
What are the requirements?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited) or Engineering Technology with a Professional Engineer license
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical engineering, power systems, commissioning, or related industrial environments
  • Knowledge of switchgear, transformers, generators, protection systems, and electrical control systems
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics, one‑line diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with commissioning, startup, and system turnover processes
  • Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, MATLAB, or similar platforms
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment and relay testing tools
  • Understanding of protection coordination, arc flash studies, grid integration, and energy storage technologies
  • Exposure to DCS/SCADA systems and electrical integration activities preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or active pursuit of licensure preferred
  • Experience with power generation facilities, data centers, or battery energy storage systems is a plus
