Job summary

STV is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings team. Lead design and delivery of electrical systems across commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, federal, transportation, and public-sector projects.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout all phases of project development, from concept and schematic design through construction administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• PE license required; Colorado
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on building systems design.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Experience preparing construction documents and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar software.
• Thorough understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, energy codes, and industry standards.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and oversee electrical calculations, design analyses, specs, reports, and construction documents.
• Design power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, civil, architectural, and specialty disciplines.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide oversight for project deliverables.
• Review and seal engineering documents per licensing requirements.
• Conduct site investigations and conditions assessments.
• Support planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and standards.
• Support construction-phase services: RFIs, submittals, change orders, punch lists, site visits.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical growth.
• Strengthen client relationships through responsive service and technical excellence.
• Support business development and client presentations.

Job description

STV is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings team. This position is responsible for leading the design and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, federal, transportation, and public-sector projects. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout all phases of project development, from concept and schematic design through construction administration.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and low-voltage systems, along with a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary project coordination, client relationships, and project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects while collaborating with architects, engineers, owners, and construction teams to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and oversee electrical calculations, design analyses, technical specifications, reports, and construction documents.
• Design electrical power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency/standby power systems, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, civil, architectural, and specialty disciplines.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and provide professional oversight for project deliverables.
• Review and seal engineering documents in accordance with state licensing requirements.
• Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and existing conditions evaluations.
• Participate in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation efforts.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, NEC, NFPA, energy codes, and industry standards.
• Support construction-phase services, including RFIs, submittal reviews, change orders, punch lists, and site observations.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers while fostering technical growth across the team.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships through responsive service and technical excellence.
• Support business development activities, proposal efforts, and client presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Colorado
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on building systems design.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Experience preparing construction documents and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical design and analysis software.
• Thorough understanding of NEC, NFPA, IBC, energy codes, and applicable industry standards.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of building systems design experience.
• SCIF / Secure Facility design experience
• Experience with healthcare, higher education, transportation, federal, laboratory, mission-critical, or large institutional facilities.
• LEED Accreditation and/or sustainable design experience.
• Previous experience serving as Engineer of Record.
• Project management experience with responsibility for budgets, schedules, and client relationships.

Compensation Range

$109,374.13 - $124,999.01
