Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in MEP/building systems.
• Design experience in mission critical, healthcare, life sciences facilities.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution and emergency power.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70/99/110 and MA amendments.

Electrical Engineer - Boston (Hybrid) - Mission Critical / Healthcare / Life Sciences

Employment Type: Full-Time,

Working set up: Hybrid, 3 days in office and 2 days from home.

The Opportunity

A well-established MEP engineering firm serving Greater Boston is adding a Senior Electrical Engineer to its growing team. This is ownership of high-complexity electrical design across mission critical (data center), healthcare, and life sciences work, with a mentorship remit and a lead role in client-facing delivery.

The Role

Lead electrical design from concept through construction administration on mission critical, healthcare, and life sciences projects — power distribution, emergency/standby power, lighting, and low-voltage systems. Coordinate closely with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural teams to deliver integrated MEP solutions, and take the lead on client relationships: presenting design recommendations directly to owners, architects, and contractors. Review and stamp construction documents, specifications, and calculations. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on technical standards and best practice, and stay current on the codes governing critical facilities, healthcare, and life sciences spaces NFPA 99, NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 110, and Massachusetts state amendments.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in an MEP or building systems consulting environment
• Hands-on design experience in mission critical (data center), healthcare, and/or life sciences facilities
• Strong grasp of power distribution, emergency/standby power, UPS and generator sizing, and the redundancy/resiliency standards critical facilities demand
• Understanding of cleanroom, lab, and process electrical requirements specific to life sciences work
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis tools such as SKM or ETAP
• Working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 99, NFPA 110, IEEE, and Massachusetts building/electrical code
• Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to clients and cross-disciplinary teams
• Based in, or willing to work on-site in, the Boston area

Preferred

• LEED accreditation
• Commissioning, arc flash study, or BAS/controls integration experience
• Prior experience leading junior engineers or serving as a project lead
