Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineer – Mission Critical, Healthcare & Life Sciences

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

The Opportunity

A well-established MEP engineering firm serving Greater Boston is adding a Senior Mechanical Engineer to its growing team. This is ownership of high-complexity mechanical design across mission critical (data center), healthcare, and life sciences work, with a mentorship remit and a lead role in client-facing delivery.

The Role

Lead mechanical design from concept through construction administration on mission critical, healthcare, and life sciences projects - HVAC systems, chilled water and central plant design, air handling and ventilation, and process cooling for critical environments. Coordinate closely with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural teams to deliver integrated MEP solutions, and take the lead on client relationships: presenting design recommendations directly to owners, architects, and contractors. Review and stamp construction documents, specifications, and calculations. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on technical standards and best practice, and stay current on the codes governing critical facilities, healthcare, and life sciences spaces - ASHRAE standards, NFPA 99, the Massachusetts State Building Code, and applicable state amendments.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
• 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in an MEP or building systems consulting environment
• Hands-on design experience in mission critical (data center), healthcare, and/or life sciences facilities
• Massachusetts PE license, or eligibility via reciprocity
• Strong grasp of HVAC system design, chilled water/central plant systems, redundancy and resiliency standards for critical cooling, and energy recovery strategies
• Understanding of cleanroom, lab, and process mechanical requirements specific to life sciences work
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and mechanical analysis tools such as Trane TRACE 3D Plus or Carrier HAP
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, NFPA 99, and Massachusetts building/mechanical code
• Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to clients and cross-disciplinary teams
• Based in, or willing to work on-site in, the Boston area

Preferred

• LEED accreditation
• Commissioning, energy modeling, or building automation/controls integration experience
• Prior experience leading junior engineers or serving as a project lead
