Job summary

Air Lift Company, a Lansing, MI-based innovator in load assist products, seeks an Electronics Technician to support development and high-volume production of electro‑mechanical systems. You will assemble, test, and validate hardware and software for end-of-line stations and test vehicles, working hands-on with hardware and firmware.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or equivalent in electronics, CS, or engineering tech.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience with mechatronic products preferred.
  • Experience with soldering/desoldering SMD components and PCBAs.
  • Fabrication and test setup including hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar.
  • Experience with J1939 CANBus is advantageous.
  • Hands-on automotive repair or modification experience.
  • Able to interpret 2D/3D CAD drawings and create CAD models.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production testing equipment.

  • Create work instructions and train staff on test equipment.
  • Maintain testing hardware throughout product lifetime.
  • Document calibration, debugging, and repair procedures.
  • Perform software and hardware validation for products.

  • Assist with validating new and existing products to software specs.
  • Collaborate on hardware fixes during development and validation phases.
  • Write/modify software to control testing equipment (LabVIEW, Arduino, Raspberry Pi).

Job Summary:

The Electronics Technician is responsible for providing support for product development efforts and volume production through the design, development, and maintenance of electro-mechanical devices including hardware and software. Example systems this role supports may include but are not limited to; end of line test stations, data acquisition systems, proof of concepts, HIL test stations. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working hands on to assemble, install, and test electronic systems; including directly on test vehicles.

What You\'ll Do:
  • Design, Build, Train and Maintain Production Testing Equipment
  • Design electrical and mechanical hardware for testing and validation of internal production products.
  • Develop embedded software for test stations, proof of concepts, and other projects as assigned.
  • Create work instructions and train production staff on testing equipment.
  • Maintain testing equipment over the lifetime of a product.
  • Develop documentation to support calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of assigned devices.
  • Perform product software testing and validation
  • Identify and document embedded software issues, suggest solutions, and implement changes.
  • Identify and document electronics issues or areas for improvement, suggest solutions, and implement changes.
  • Assist with validating new and current products to ensure they are working to their software specifications.
  • Perform low-level hardware analysis and PCBA repair during development and validation phases.
  • Modify electronics to support experiments and product change investigations.
  • Write and modify software used to control testing equipment.
    • LabView, Arduino, RaspberryPI, Intrepid Control Systems VSpy, etc.
  • Perform and assist with minor and major installations and repairs of our products on and off vehicles
What You\'ll Bring:
  • Experience soldering and desoldering surface mount components
  • Ability to assemble and troubleshoot PCBAs
  • Ability to utilize 2D/3D CAD and drawings
  • Embedded software knowledge
  • Experience with LabView, Arduino, RaspberryPi, or similar
  • Associate\'s degree – Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering Technology or similar
  • 1-3 years\' experience with mechatronic products
  • Ability to create 2D/3D CAD and drawings
  • Experience with J1939 CANBus
  • Hands-on experience with automotive repair or modification
