Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Planning & Protection Engineer to ensure reliability of Maryland's distribution system. The role will analyze performance, develop improvement plans, and support regulatory reporting.

The position is onsite, with potential travel to various MD sites. Requires ABET-accredited degree and engineering licensure or advanced degree, plus willingness to work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited institution is required.
• Fundamentals of Engineering exam is a plus.
• Experience with electrical distribution systems, operations, and maintenance practices is desired.
• Willing to travel and work irregular hours.

Responsibilities

• Assess and improve the reliability of Maryland distribution systems across Operating Areas.
• Develop long-range infrastructure improvement plans (LTIIP) and strategic reliability targets.
• Prepare and present reliability performance and regulatory reports.
• Support MD Operations through data analysis of outages, DEMI, CEMI, and WPC.
