Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. in Maryland seeks a Planning & Protection Engineer to ensure the reliability of the state's distribution system.

This onsite role is preferred at the Potomac Edison Headquarters in Williamsport, MD, with other MD centers possible based on space. The engineer analyzes outages, develops long-range plans for system modernization, supports regulatory reports, and coordinates across teams to keep safety and reliability high.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required; PE license or ABET degree plus advanced degree acceptable.
• 0–5 years engineering experience required.
• FE exam is a plus.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, operations and maintenance practices, NEC/NESC knowledge.
• Ability to analyze data, write reports, develop work packages and handle multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assessing and improving the Maryland distribution system's reliability performance.
• Developing and overseeing long-term infrastructure improvement plans (LTIIP).
• Preparing and presenting reliability and regulatory reports.
• Developing budgets and schedules for distribution projects.
• Supporting storm process and cross-functional coordination.
