Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Met-Ed distribution system planning and protection. The role involves reliable infrastructure design, modeling, and studying load growth to guide capital projects.

The engineer will prepare analyses, coordinate with operations, and support storm restoration and outage response as needed. Reading, PA-based with travel to service territory locations.'

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is required (ABET preferred).
• 3–8 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical systems, operations, maintenance, and protection studies.

Responsibilities

• Plan, protect, and ensure reliability of Met-Ed distribution systems.
• Perform analysis and recommend solutions to maintain electrical infrastructure.
• Model distribution systems and calculate voltage drop and fault currents.
• Prepare budget estimates and schedules for system reinforcements.
• Support operations with switching studies and protection settings.
• Conduct long-term planning studies and load studies for new demand.
