Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an internship within the Electric Distribution Area Engineering Organization in Minneapolis, MN or Fargo, ND. You will support the team to improve reliability of the distribution system, assist with outage investigations and technical reports, and gain hands-on experience in protection and coordination studies.

This internship starts May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student, junior or higher.
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college or university pursuing Electrical Engineering.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week) and commute to the designated work location in-person per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in outage investigations.
• Contribute to technical reports.
• Learn how electricity is delivered.
• Assist with protection and coordination studies.
