Job summary

Xcel Energy invites motivated students to join as a May 24, 2027 start internship in Electric Distribution Design. You will assist with project management, GIS/mapping, and field site visits, collaborating with IT, construction, and other departments to serve customers.

The role requires enrollment in ABET-accredited programs and travel to job sites, with hybrid work and potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher, enrolled in ABET accredited program.
• Pursuing degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management.
• Able to travel to job sites and work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management tasks.
• Communicate with internal and external customers.
• Learn company IT systems, including GIS/mapping.
• Understand construction practices and site readiness.
