Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking an Electrical Designer to join the Durham campus. The role focuses on developing construction document sets, conducting power system studies, and supporting the sales team with proposal drawings.

You will produce code-compliant drawings during regular business hours on the Durham, NC site. You will review and apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards, coordinate with project teams, and ensure timely, accurate deliverables.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret documents including building codes and electrical drawings.
• Proficient in Adobe and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Able to perform arithmetic in all units and communicate in English.
• 2–4 years' experience with a CAD software package.
• 3–6 years' experience with switchgear, panelboards, transformers, and electrical diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical construction documents and use CAD to produce drawings (site plans, one-line diagrams, risers, schematics).
• Review and apply NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and AHJ codes and standards.
• Review O&M manuals and submittal packages for customer approval.
• Assemble permitting packages and obtain engineer seal as required.
• Coordinate with EPC engineering, project teams, sales and product engineering to ensure deliverables stay on schedule.
