Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Permanent Electrical Designer/Drafter to join our NY team. You will design and draft electrical systems for industrial and commercial projects, ensuring NEC compliance and high performance outcomes.

You’ll collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate systems and review drawings for accuracy. The role requires 5+ years in electrical design, CAD proficiency, and a strong foundation in calculations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in electrical design and drafting in construction.
• Proficiency with CAD software for electrical design and drafting.
• Knowledge of NEC and relevant standards/regulations.
• Experience designing electrical systems for high performance buildings.
• Familiarity with plumbing and mechanical systems related to electrical design.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills for complex calculations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive approach to solving problems before they arise.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Designing and drafting electrical systems for industrial and commercial buildings, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and security systems.
• Performing complex electrical calculations such as load balancing, voltage drop, and sub-bank calculations.
• Designing and specifying electrical conduits, wiring, and other components per NEC.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers, and other team members to integrate electrical systems into building design.
• Reviewing and revising designs to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinating with contractors and suppliers to ensure correct installation and operation.
• Providing technical support and troubleshooting during construction and post-occupancy phases.
• Continuously updating knowledge of new technologies and industry trends.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and drafting, specifically in the construction industry.
2. Proficiency in using CAD software for electrical design and drafting.
3. In-depth knowledge of NEC Code and other relevant industry standards and regulations.
4. Experience with designing electrical systems for high performance buildings.
5. Familiarity with plumbing and mechanical systems, as they relate to electrical design.
6. Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex electrical calculations.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
8. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues before they arise.
9. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
