Job summary

Astec is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Draftsman to create electrical drawings and associated documentation in support of the Electrical Engineering Department. You will work with Engineering, Sales and Service to determine customer requirements and prepare BOMs, cables routing and installation notes.

The role requires experience with 3D/2D CAD (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN), knowledge of Electric Code and UL requirements, and the ability to read ladder diagrams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or a minimum of two years of equivalent knowledge/experience in a related field.
• Experience with 3D-CAD and 2D-CAD design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan.
• Knowledge of the Electric Code and UL requirements.
• Ability to select proper components, size starters, breakers, wiring and conduit.
• Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
• Knowledge of PLCs/No Programming Required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Create electrical drawings and associated documents for the Electrical Engineering Department.
• Prepare detailed 3-phase, single-phase and low-voltage DC electrical drawings.
• Create electrical bills of material and cables routing.
• Process sales orders and work orders with other departments.
• Coordinate with Procurement for long lead-time items.
• Assist in determining power requirements and installations for customers.
• Check electrical prints and resolve drawing errors.
• Engage in Continuous Improvement projects.
