Electrical CAD Designer & Controls Specialist

Job summary

Astec is a global, environmentally focused infrastructure and manufacturing company serving the asphalt road building and aggregate processing industries. This role focuses on creating electrical drawings and related documents for the Electrical Engineering Department, coordinating with Engineering, Sales and Service to meet customer requirements.

Primary duties include preparing 3-phase, single-phase and low-voltage DC drawings, creating BOMs and parts lists, routing cables, processing sales

Qualifications

• Associates degree or 2 years related experience.
• Experience with 3D-CAD and 2D-CAD design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPlan.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Code and UL requirements.
• Ability to select proper components, size starters, breakers, wiring and conduit.
• Ability to read electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
• Knowledge of PLCs with no programming required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists in determining power requirements, troubleshooting of electrical systems, and aiding in installations and permitting for customers.
• Supports electrical and controls troubleshooting.
• Supports the work order process by attending sales order meetings to gather/confirm electrical design requirements.
• Timely and accurate correction/resolution of drawing errors.
• Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and activities as assigned.
