Job description

A growing engineering and manufacturing organization serving the water and environmental infrastructure market is seeking an Electrical Designer to support the development and delivery of engineered treatment and infrastructure systems. This position will be responsible for preparing electrical design documentation, reviewing customer submittal materials, developing bills of material, supporting equipment specifications, and coordinating closely with mechanical engineering and other internal teams.

The Electrical Designer will contribute to projects from design development through manufacturing and customer delivery. The role offers an opportunity to apply electrical design expertise in a practical engineering environment where accuracy, communication, and responsiveness directly influence project execution and customer outcomes.

Professional Responsibility and Scope

The Electrical Designer will prepare and review electrical drawings and technical documentation required for customer approval and project execution. Responsibilities include developing and releasing drawings, creating part information for specialized applications, preparing bills of material for panel assemblies, and contributing electrical content to operation and maintenance documentation.

The position will also support equipment specification compliance, engineering change processes, vendor component research, and pricing activities. Success in the role requires effective coordination with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, customer service, sales, customers, and other stakeholders. The position serves primarily internal teams while also providing technical support to external customers when needed.

Location and Lifestyle Context

This position is based onsite in the Midwest. The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional exposure to operating environments where factors such as noise, dust, temperature variation, odors, or industrial chemicals may be present.

The regional setting provides access to established communities, employment centers, and a broad range of residential and lifestyle options while maintaining proximity to major infrastructure and manufacturing markets.

Long-Term Professional Growth

This opportunity provides exposure to the full engineering process surrounding engineered environmental and infrastructure systems. The Electrical Designer will work across design documentation, equipment compliance, vendor coordination, manufacturing support, customer requirements, and project execution.

Over time, this breadth of responsibility can provide a strong foundation for continued development in electrical design, engineering coordination, project support, or other technical roles within the organization.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range is $25/hr to $40/hr, with the opportunity to participate in incentive compensation where applicable.

Team Environment and Leadership Approach

The Electrical Designer will work within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment and will coordinate regularly with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, customer service, sales, vendors, and customers. The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to navigate technical and commercial considerations while maintaining productive professional relationships.

The organization values practical engineering collaboration and expects team members to provide responsive technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Organizational Stability and Industry Position

The organization operates within the established water and environmental infrastructure sector, supporting municipal and industrial customers through engineered treatment solutions and related equipment. Its work encompasses the design and manufacture of systems intended to address complex water and wastewater infrastructure requirements.

This position provides an opportunity to build expertise within an essential infrastructure market where engineering, manufacturing, and technical service work together to support long-term customer needs.

Experience and Qualification Summary

The successful candidate will have an associate degree in electrical design or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical is required, along with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, as is the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders. The position also requires sound judgment when working with vendors and customers and the ability to negotiate technical or commercial matters while maintaining positive professional relationships.
