Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking an Electrical Design Technician with 3+ years of experience to support overhead utility infrastructure and renewable energy projects. You will prepare construction drawings, develop design packages, and coordinate with utilities and project teams.

Strong AutoCAD and Revit skills are required, with a focus on quality and accuracy across multiple projects. The role involves designing for solar, BESS, and related electrical infrastructure, and contributing to design processes

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical design or drafting experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and working knowledge of Revit.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and modify electrical design drawings for overhead distribution and transmission projects.
• Assist with design of utility-scale renewable energy facilities (solar, BESS).
• Develop plan and profile drawings, site layouts, and electrical details using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Support design calculations, material takeoffs, and construction packages.
• Coordinate with utilities, clients, contractors, and project teams for design accuracy.
• Review data, surveys, and records for inclusion in design documents.
