Job summary

Pierce Manufacturing, part of Oshkosh Corporation, is looking for an electrical design intern to assist engineers and designers. You’ll support design tasks, create part numbers in ERP, and help prepare drawings, BOMs, and ECN documents during the internship.

Ideal candidates are pursuing an Associate’s degree in Electrical Design or related field, with a strong eye for detail and familiarity with CAD tools like Zuken E3, AutoCAD, CATIA V5, Windchill, and CAN/J1939 concepts.

Qualifications

• Student pursuing an Associate's degree in Electrical Design or related field for the duration of the internship.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal direction.
• Familiarity with drafting standards and BOM data entry.
• Experience with CAN/J1939 and automotive/heavy equipment concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Use ERP systems to create part numbers following the proper naming process and data entry requirements.
• Assist in preparing engineering drawings, layouts, and schematics that conform to drafting standards and department policies.
• Assist in preparing engineering change notices (ECN) documents based on Bills of Material (BOM) and design layouts for appropriate date entry.
• Assist in addressing component obsolescence of purchased electrical parts.
• Ensure the smooth flow of operations within the engineering department by optimizing engineering design(s) for manufacturing process efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assist in preparing and maintaining electrical system Bills of Materials (BOM) based on recognized industry and corporate standards.
• Consult and coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality electrical system design.
