Job summary

Nav-Tech Inc. in Hauppauge, NY, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to translate customer specs into switchgear designs, create one-line diagrams, layouts, and bills of materials, and support production through release.

This hands-on role uses 2D/3D CAD to develop drawings, perform short-circuit/coordination studies, ensure NEC/NEMA/UL compliance, and collaborate with sales, production, and inspectors on engineered-to-order projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5-10 years designing low- or medium-voltage switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Experience with UL 891/1558, NEC, NEMA, and ANSI/IEEE standards.

Responsibilities

• Design LV/MV switchgear, switchboards, and power distribution assemblies from spec to drawing package.
• Prepare one-line, three-line, Layouts, and BOMs for customer projects.
• Perform short-circuit, coordination, and protective device selection/coordination.
• Ensure compliance with NEC/NEMA/UL standards and support UL reviews and testing.
• Create 2D/3D CAD models and drawings for enclosures and bus work.
• Collaborate with sales, production, and inspectors on technical questions.
• Support production on the shop floor and drive design changes to reduce cost/lead time.
• Write and execute test protocols and final test reports.
