Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a design engineer to create detailed electrical designs and BOMs under supervision. You will prepare CAD drawings and project documentation, and provide design engineering support to project leads.

The role emphasizes adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality while expanding knowledge of SEL equipment and protection solutions. Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in EET/CAD/Drafting or equivalent, 6+ years of high voltage design

Qualifications

• Associate degree in EET, CAD, or drafting, or equivalent experience.
• Six+ years of high voltage electrical design experience.
• Expert CAD drafting with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Strong writing, documentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs and BOMs.
• Prepare CAD drawings and project documentation.
• Provide design engineering support to project leads.
• Prepare technical specifications for review.
• Complete work within timelines and budgets with quality.
• Develop expertise in SEL design practices.
• Assist and mentor interns and junior designers.
• Maintain knowledge of SEL equipment and solutions.
• Suggest process and tool improvements.
• Follow SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing principles.
• Understand. Create. Simplify.
• Other duties as assigned.
