Nav-Tech Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to translate customer specifications into compliant, manufacturable switchgear designs; produce one-line diagrams, layouts, BOMs, and select protective devices for low- and medium-voltage equipment.

This hands-on role is in a fast-moving engineered-to-order shop in Hauppauge, NY, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The position offers on-site work with relocation assistance for qualified candidates and a

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years designing low- or medium-voltage switchgear or power distribution equipment.
• Working knowledge of UL 891 and/or UL 1558, NEC, NEMA, ANSI/IEEE.
• Experience preparing one-line diagrams and performing short-circuit calculations.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD and MS Office.
• Clear written and verbal communication with customers and management.

Responsibilities

• Design low- and medium-voltage switchgear to UL 891/1558 from customer specification to released drawings.
• Prepare one-line, three-line, and control diagrams and BOMs.
• Perform short-circuit, coordination, and load calculations; select breakers and metering components.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, ANSI/IEEE and UL standards; support reviews and witness testing.
• Create 2D/3D CAD models for projects, enclosures, and bus work.
• Address customer specifications and respond to technical questions with sales coordination.
• Support production on the shop floor, resolve design questions, and drive changes to reduce cost/lead time.
• Write and execute test protocols and final test reports.
