Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking an experienced CAD designer to help design components or modifications for naval ships. You will use CAD/CAM/CATIA to draft layouts, gather data, and prepare proposals while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and planning teams.

Travel to Naval Bases (25-50%) is required to support pier-side checks and surveys; a High School Diploma with 5 years of experience or an Associate's degree with 1 year experience qualifies you for

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of experience
  • Associates degree or two-year technical degree with 1 year experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Design components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
  • Applicant will be directly involved in electrical design and development of drawings associated with ship modification and overhauls.
  • Travel to numerous Naval Bases will be required to support pier side shipchecking and surveys.
