Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding in Avondale, LA is seeking a piping design engineer to design components or portions of piping systems and modify existing designs to improve products and support manufacturing operations. Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED with 10 years of experience or an associate degree with 6 years of experience.
Experience checking 3D models and 2D drawings in a naval or large-scale manufacturing setting.
Proficiency with AUTOCAD and Ship Constructor; familiarity with NAVISWORKS and Siemens NX is a plus.

Responsibilities

Design components or portions of piping systems and modify designs to improve products and manufacturing.
Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, materials, and planning groups.
Prepare rough layouts and sketches and present design proposals for review.
Lead or mentor lower-level staff and serve as a resource for problem resolution.
Ensure compliance with contractual specifications and manufacturing feasibility.
