We are searching for an Electrical Design Engineer for our Power & Infrastructure Department located in Voorhees, NJ. The candidate will be expected to lead the design of electrical infrastructure systems and projects, manage electrical projects, respond to Requests for Proposals, and develop client and strategic relationships.
Requirements
- Perform electrical engineering design duties under the supervision of the Director of Electrical Engineering.
- Design grid-connected power systems including electrical single line diagrams, grid interconnection applications, and associated electrical systems.
- Develop electrical equipment, materials, and installation specifications.
- Evaluate equipment proposals and review technical submittals.
- Assist in project coordination with other engineering disciplines.
- Perform calculations and analysis reports: load flow, short circuit, relay & breaker coordination, arc flash, grounding, cable sizing, etc.
- Layout electrical equipment, route conduit, duct-bank, and cable systems.
- Develop protection/control single line diagrams, control schematics, wiring diagrams, communication/network diagrams.
- Support construction in the office and field by reviewing submittals, shop drawings, reports, inspecting installation, and overseeing testing and commissioning.
- Respond to customer and contractor questions.
- Participate in site surveys and inspections.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered and active Professional Engineering license.
- Knowledge and experience in engineering grid interconnection of power systems: internal combustion engines, turbines, PV solar, battery energy storage.
- Experience in engineering/design of HV and MV substations connecting to the grid.
- Experience specifying grid connecting switchgear and systems.
- Proficiency with electric systems modeling software: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, HOMER.
- Experience with electrical analysis/studies: load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash, harmonics, lightning protection.
- Experience developing relay/meter configuration and programming files.
- Experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit experience is a plus.
- Strong time management skills, comfortable with deadlines and transitions.
- Ability to work independently and manage engineering design projects.
- Excellent communication skills, technical writing, and documentation abilities.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Desire to participate in project development, proposal development, and business growth (highly desirable).
Education & Experience
- BS in Engineering.
- Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience with progression in power or related fields.
- Experience in executing multidisciplinary projects using AutoCAD or Revit.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
