Job summary

Owen Daniels is partnering with a leading USV manufacturer in Virginia Beach to expand their electrical engineering team. We seek an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to drive electrical concepts from conception through testing and final manufacture in a maritime setting.

Qualifications

• Marine electrical background with 5+ years' industry experience, or a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and well‑developed engineering skills.
• Build, test, and commissioning experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with production of new electrical designs from concept through to final manufacture.
• Undertake design validation via calculation for electrical systems and equipment.
• Apply analysis outputs to demonstrate compliance with safety, functional, and performance requirements.
• Liaise with test facilities, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to satisfy project needs.
• Undertake hands‑on testing of designed systems, including prototype set‑ups in the on-site test facility.
• Apply good systems engineering practices across the design lifecycle.
• Control the issuing of drawings for production.
• Work with specialist areas including hydraulic and cooling systems.
• Assist with compiling vessel electrical test documents for first‑of‑class build.
• Assist with Bill of Materials and part creation.

As part of this expansion, they are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience within the marine sector, supporting designs from concept through to testing, validation and manufacturing.

Job Summary

• Assist with production of new electrical designs from concept through to final manufacture
• Undertake design validation via calculation for electrical systems and equipment

Required and Desirable Experience

• Marine electrical background with 5+ years' industry experience, or a degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and well‑developed engineering skills
• Build, test, and commissioning experience
• Experience with 3D CAD systems (advantageous but not essential)
• Hazardous DC voltages and CAN Bus experience (advantageous but not essential)
• Maritime experience a plus; strong technical expertise, drive, and communication skills valued regardless of background
• Ability to work in maritime and field environments
